Above sea level, the Popilia Country Resort where these lovely two celebrated their destination wedding, overlooks the wonderful Gulf of Sant’Euphemia, Calabria, surrounded by a lush pine forest. You can feel the breeze coming from the sea, incredibly relaxing, even on an hot summer day.
Aurélie + Johan arrived here from France to celebrate their destination wedding.
He, of Calabrian origins but raised in France, packed his bags together with her to get married in this beautiful land. We get to know each other via email and then met directly to take their engagement photo session in Tropea, pearl of the Tyrrhenian sea, 6 months before their wedding. So happy to have known them!
These lovely two have chosen the Popilia Country Resort for their destination wedding. It reserves you a unique welcome surrounded by the evocative landscapes that Calabria can offer. To reach the Resort, you take the historic Annia Popilia, that in ancient times connected Rome with the extreme tip of the Italian peninsula and which gives its name to the structure.
It was a civil wedding celebrated outdoor in the beauty and simplicity of nature. About 50 people attended, close friends and relatives. A very intimate wedding felt by everyone. Being September, the ceremony began with sunlight and ended at dusk. And then the celebration of this mediterranean destination wedding continued between toasts and live music under the stars of the Calabrian coast.
After having enjoyed the wedding party, Aurélie and Johan stayed there overnight, ready to reach me again for an amazing after wedding session! We shot under the Resort pine trees and then went back to where we met in Tropea, among the spectacular old alleys leading to the beach and yeah!, we took off the shoes. While we were having fun shooting, a cheerful fisherman on a small boat from behind the Church of Santa Maria dell’Isola was heading for the shore.
Don’t know how, we ended up on the boat with him, sailing towards the blue as the sun went down on the horizon. So incredibly beautiful and well worth!
I love destination weddings and small weddings, for the sake of simplicity and intentionality. A day full of meaning, intimacy and focused on the two of you! Really connecting with your relatives and friends. Always stay true to who you are, choose a location that really represents your personalities. ‘Cause no matter what kind of wedding you’re after, choose whatever you want as long as it makes you two the happiest! I really advice considering to celebrate the wedding and the wedding party in the same place, why not with an overnight stay! If you are organizing your wedding day, trust me, it is worth!
