Villa Zerbi Calabria Wedding | Paola+Ivan

This is about a vintage vibes wedding celebrated at Villa Zerbi, Calabria.

“When we chose you to capture our wedding we were sure you would have represented it in the way we wanted, reflecting our personalities…we fell in love with your shots from the beginning, so it has been a natural choice…but the result went far beyond our expectations!!

We would choose you 1000 more times.”

Paola & Ivan

I still get excited about these words! I was looking forward to shoot Paola and Ivan’s wedding. Especially after their engagement session, we created magic!

They celebrated their wedding with relatives and friends, who came from different parts of the world, at Villa Zerbi, Calabria. Villa Zerbi is a beautiful Baroque-style XVIII century historic residence with a large Mediterranean garden. The charm of its history, combined with nature, makes it a unique location. A scenario full of magic, between centuries-old orange trees and climbing roses that mix with the fragrance of geraniums. Ideal for setting up wedding banquets with a minimal, simple and refined style. You can find more here.

After many years of distance Ivan managed to reach Paola in Switzerland, where they finally live together. And here the surprising marriage proposal: the morning after moving into their new home, with all the boxes still to be opened…except for the one containing the ring! They got married the following summer and the most exciting part was seeing their two worlds coming together, the Italian and the Swiss one. Many friends followed them from Bern to celebrate together. Simply wonderful!

It was my first wedding shooting in the rain!! I loved it! It started raining while we were taking photos outside, but the rest of the day has been sunny so everything went according to plan A (I always also have plan B ready. And plan C. You never know!)

They share a passion for cycling. So, on leaving the church, they got on the saddle of a vintage 50’s bike that their friends decorated with flowers and cans attached to the rear wheel. So cute! Everyone appreciated the DIY wedding favors: delicious jars of honey from a local producer!

Traveling by car to the location was one of the funniest moments: all the tension was gone and they sang at the top of their voice all the time, together with the witness and sister! They organized everything in less than a year and remotely, but they did great and enjoyed every unforgettable moment.

The wedding party in the villa has been very lively! Later on Paola and Ivan moved to Scilla together with their friends to continue celebrating, and they still did for a week!

Scilla is called the little Venice of Calabria, because of the small colorful houses of the fishermen that surround the beach and are reflected in the blue sea. A little guide here. Walking through these streets was an intense and enchanting experience, smelling simple flavours and Mediterranean fragrances. It has been special being part of your wedding and being your photographer. Thanks you two!
